Illinois Quick Hits: Chicago mugging captured on video
(The Center Square) – A video capturing an armed assault and robbery Thursday afternoon in Chicago has drawn millions of views on social media.
CWB Chicago reports that two men approached a man outside Mondelēz International Global Headquarters in the city’s Fulton Market neighborhood, demanded property and battered him.
Police said the victim declined medical attention.
GUN AND DRUG PROBE NETS CHARGES
A Bloomington man is facing 25 felony drug and gun-related charges after state and local police opened an investigation in McLean County.
Illinois State Police say officers executed a search warrant at the home of Sherez A. Boykins, 45, on Feb. 6 and found six loaded firearms, ammunition, cocaine, methamphetamine and miscellaneous narcotics.
EVANSTON/SKOKIE SCHOOL EMPLOYEE SEX CRIMES
Two Evanston/Skokie School District 65 employees have been arrested and charged with sex crimes against children.
The Evanston RoundTable reports that Washington Elementary assistant principal Carlos Mendez and his girlfriend, Maribel Flores-Hernandez, a paraprofessional at the Joseph E. Hill Early Childhood Center, are being held without bond and are expected to appear in court Feb. 25.
Charging documents accuse Mendez, 51, of sexually abusing a family member of Flores-Hernandez, 34, for a two-year period with Flores-Hernandez’ cooperation.
