The Beecher Public Library District Board of Trustees on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, advanced plans for a major renovation of the facility’s entrance while simultaneously dealing with an urgent mechanical failure in the building’s heating system.
During the meeting, the Board finalized the schedule for the main front entrance project. According to the minutes, bid packets are set to be distributed and accepted starting Thursday, January 29, 2026. The process will conclude with a formal bid opening on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
While looking forward to the renovation, the Board also addressed an immediate infrastructure issue under old business. It was reported to the Board that one of the two heaters servicing the upstairs area is no longer functioning. Both heating units are over 30 years old.
The report noted a significant risk to the facility: if the one remaining functional heater fails, the loss of heat could result in frozen pipes upstairs. Consequently, the Board decided to immediately obtain an estimate for a new heater to ensure the building remains safe during the winter months.
