The Beecher Village Board on Monday, April 13, 2026, unanimously passed Ordinance #1450, securing a three-year renewal of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Will County for the continued use of license plate reading cameras.
Trustee Joe Tieri, Chair of the Public Safety Committee, brought the ordinance forward. The agreement specifically permits the Village of Beecher to utilize the Will County Right-of-Way for the placement of the advanced police cameras, which track vehicle data to assist in law enforcement investigations.
“This IGA requires renewal every three years upon the approval of the village board, and a village representative will be required to attend a future meeting of the Will County Public Works and Transportation Committee,” Tieri stated.
The board briefly discussed who would attend the mandatory county meeting, noting that it would likely be the Chief of Police or a designated administrative staff member to answer any questions the county committee might have regarding the camera usage. The motion passed 6-0.
