Washington Township Board Appoints Teresa Peterson to Fill Vacancy

BEECHER – The Washington Township Board of Trustees has a new member, after unanimously appointing Teresa Peterson to fill a vacant trustee seat during its Monday meeting.

Supervisor Mike Stanula opened the floor for nominations to fill the post, which became vacant following the April election.

Newly elected Trustee Paul Goldrick nominated Peterson for the position, and Trustee Tracy Heldt seconded the motion. The vote to approve the nomination was unanimous. With no further nominations, Trustee Mark Herlitz made a motion to officially appoint Peterson as a Washington Township Trustee, which also passed unanimously.

Immediately following the vote, Peterson was issued the “Oath of Office” and took her seat with the board for the remainder of the meeting. The appointment brings the board back to its full complement of a supervisor and four trustees.
