The board also received a positive staffing update, with a report announcing the hiring of four new part-time firefighter/EMTs and firefighter/paramedics. This move bolsters the district’s emergency response capabilities. Read more in our article about the new hires.

Chief Highlights Community Engagement and Equipment
Fire Chief Joe Falaschetti reported on the district’s active participation in community events, including the recent “Cop on a Rooftop” fundraiser and an upcoming blood drive. He also noted progress on the Junior Fire and Citizen Fire Academies. The Chief confirmed the district is moving forward with grant-funded projects and the acquisition of a new 2025 Chevy Tahoe.

Training Hours Continue to Climb
Deputy Chief Mike Heusing reported that district firefighters have now completed a total of 5,332.5 training hours. This ongoing commitment to training ensures that personnel are proficient in the latest firefighting and emergency medical techniques, maintaining a high level of readiness for all types of incidents.

Village Trustee Thanks Fire District
During the public comment portion of the meeting, Beecher Village Trustee Joe Tieri publicly thanked the fire district for its participation in the recent “Cop on a Rooftop” event. The fundraiser supports the Special Olympics, and the district’s involvement highlights the strong partnership between local government bodies in the community.

Board Approves Routine Financial Matters
Trustees unanimously approved the minutes from the April 24 regular and closed session meetings, with a minor correction to note the full attendance at the prior meeting. The board also approved the treasurer’s report for May and the payment of May bills.
