BEECHER, IL – To better manage its local court system, the Village of Beecher has officially established a new Adjudication Clerk position. The Village Board approved an ordinance on September 22 that amends the municipal code to formally define the role and its responsibilities within the village’s administrative adjudication system.

The Adjudication Clerk will handle the day-to-day operations of the village’s process for hearing cases on local ordinance violations, such as parking tickets and traffic infractions.

According to the ordinance, the clerk’s duties will include maintaining physical and electronic case files, establishing hearing dates, sending notices to all parties, answering public inquiries, recording and accepting payment for fines, and maintaining the status of pending cases. The ordinance allows one person to hold this position in conjunction with other roles, such as System Coordinator.

The new position will be part of the village’s ordinance enforcement department, alongside hearing officers, an ordinance enforcement administrator, and other personnel.

During a final discussion, trustees clarified that the hiring process for the Adjudication Clerk will be uniform with other appointed roles. The position will be filled by appointment from the village president with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees, ensuring a consistent oversight process.
