Beecher Fire Protection District Board of Trustees Meeting | September 25, 2025

The Beecher Fire Protection District Board of Trustees approved a major capital expense at its meeting on Thursday, September 25, 2025, awarding a contract for over $27,000 for a new LED sign for the fire station. The purchase from All Right Sign aims to enhance the district’s ability to communicate with the public. More details on this expenditure are available in a separate article. In other business, the board appointed Fire Chief Joe Falaschetti to the district’s pension board and heard updates on various community outreach programs and inter-governmental cooperation efforts.

Chief Falaschetti Appointed to Pension Board
The Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Fire Chief Joe Falaschetti to a seat on the pension board. The motion was made by Trustee Dave Kolosh and seconded by Trustee Bruce Becker. The appointment passed with a 4-0 roll call vote, with President Margie Cook and Trustee Lyle Siefker joining Kolosh and Becker in favor. Trustee Mike Waterman was absent.

Department Reports on Community Outreach and Training
Department leaders updated the board on several ongoing community programs and training milestones. Chief Joe Falaschetti highlighted the Citizen Fire Academy, an upcoming Open House, and CPR training conducted with the Village of Beecher and its police department. Deputy Chief Mike Heusing reported that firefighters have completed a total of 8,758.5 training hours and noted progress on vehicle maintenance and candidate updates.

Fire District May Assist School with Sporting Events
Chief Joe Falaschetti reported that the fire district may assist the local school district by having a presence at sporting events. This potential partnership comes after the school district lost its Athletic Director. The collaboration would help ensure safety and support for student activities. The chief’s report noted this as a possibility being explored to support the community.

Inter-Governmental Cooperation Discussed
In the Village Liaison report, Chief Joe Falaschetti informed the board of a recent discussion with the Beecher village mayor regarding local hospital status. The conversation also included the possibility of a District Fire Inspector working collaboratively with the Village Fire Inspector. This effort aims to streamline inspection duties and enhance cooperation between the two government bodies for the benefit of public safety.

Routine Business Approved
The board handled several routine administrative items, all of which passed unanimously with four votes in favor and one member absent. The trustees approved the minutes from the August 28, 2025, regular meeting, accepted the treasurer’s report for August, and approved the payment of bills for the month of September.
