Chiropractor sentenced for fraud

A Chicago chiropractor has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for billing a private insurer more than $2 million in nonexistent services.

Prosecutors say Clarence W. Brown III, 49, submitted more than 6,000 fraudulent claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.

Brown was accused of using the proceeds to fund a house, a luxury sport-utility vehicle, international vacations and high-end shopping.

Fatal airport shooting investigation

A Peoria man is dead after an officer-involved shooting at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis.

Officials say Darius Kennedy, 31, was fatally shot by airport police early Friday after he refused to drop the knife he was carrying.

Officials said police deployed a taser that failed to stop Kennedy before one officer fired his service weapon.

Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are investigating.
