Beecher School Board Facilities Committee Meeting | November 24, 2025

Article Summary: The Facilities Committee received a report detailing a cost-effective solution to retrofit the non-functional digital sign at Beecher Junior High.

Sign Repair Key Points:

  • Retrofit Solution: The district technology department identified a vendor, ProLED, to install new LED panels and software onto the existing sign structure.

  • Current State: The existing electronic message center is “rotted out” and beyond repair.

  • Funding: The project proposal will be presented to the Beecher Educational Foundation for potential funding.

BEECHER, Ill. – The dark electronic sign outside Beecher Junior High may soon be operational again following a report presented to the Facilities Committee on Monday, November 24, 2025.

District technology staff reported that the internal components of the current sign are “rotted out” and have been resoldered multiple times, leaving the unit beyond repair. However, rather than replacing the entire monument sign, staff identified a retrofit solution.

The proposal involves using a vendor named ProLED to install new LED panels over the existing structure. The upgrade would include new software to run the display, replacing the obsolete system currently in place.

“It offers a 5-year parts warranty and a 10-year parts availability guarantee,” a technology staff member explained. “It’s not like a fly-by-night… place.”

The committee indicated that the proposal would be forwarded to the Beecher Educational Foundation with a request to fund the repairs.
