Public Works & Transportation Committee Meeting | December 2, 2025

Overall Meeting Summary
The Will County Board Public Works and Transportation Committee met on December 2, 2025, to address infrastructure contracts, transit agreements, and roadway safety. The meeting was headlined by the approval of a consolidated countywide paratransit system supported by a $1.3 million Pace subsidy, though members debated the long-term fiscal risks of the program. News Briefs

Routine Maintenance Contracts Approved:
The committee approved several contracts for 2025 countywide maintenance materials. Awards included contracts for bituminous patching, bituminous prime, and sign materials. A contract for aggregate was awarded to Iroquois Paving Corp of Watseka, as no Will County businesses submitted bids for the specific stone type required.

Speed Zone Changes:

  • Channahon-Minooka Road (CH 32): An extended 35 MPH speed zone was established in District 1 to cover a curve near an intersection for consistency.

  • Golfview Drive: An altered speed zone of 25 MPH was established on Golfview Drive in Green Garden Township (District 3).

Adopt-A-Highway Openings:
The committee discussed the Adopt-A-Highway program, introducing Hannah Turban as the new coordinator. Officials noted there are currently vacancies for road segments available for adoption. Board members discussed the possibility of political groups or individuals adopting highways, which staff indicated is likely permissible.
