Washington Township Board of Trustees Meeting | Nov. 2025

Overall Meeting Summary
The Washington Township Board of Trustees met on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, tackling issues ranging from solar farm opposition to tax levies and employee wages. The board took a firm stance against two proposed solar farm projects near Beecher, with Supervisor Mike Stanula planning to send letters of opposition to Will County. Financially, the board managed to keep the Town Levy flat for 2025 through internal fund reallocations, though the Road District is seeking a 4.75% increase to address aging equipment and rising paving costs.

Additionally, the board approved wage increases to $19 per hour for the Office Coordinator/Bus Driver and Township Operations Director positions to improve staff retention. Routine bills were paid, and updated job descriptions were approved to reflect crossover duties between part-time staff members.

Trustee Vacancy Deadline:
Supervisor Mike Stanula reported that he has discussed the current Trustee vacancy with three potential candidates but is not yet ready to make a recommendation. He asked the board to provide additional candidates for consideration. The vacancy must be filled by Dec. 6.

Road Repair Update:
Highway Commissioner Mike Smith reported that Bernard Welding may assist in defraying costs to repair Corning Road from Route 1 to their western property line due to heavy truck traffic. Smith also noted that no Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) money will be used next year, as the funds are being stockpiled for future blacktop projects. The department plans to seek quotes to spot-pave sections of Klemme Road north of Indiana Avenue.

Assessor Uniforms:
Assessor Pat Peters reported that she purchased polo shirts and is considering purchasing jackets embroidered with the Washington Township logo. These items are intended to help identify employees and officials at township events and while the bus driver is on duty.

Senior Movie Night:
The township announced that a Senior Movie Night is scheduled for Nov. 19 at the Washington Township Center at 6:30 p.m.
