Retirement Key Points:

  • Service Record: McCawley served the village for over 35 years, starting in 1991.

  • Multiple Roles: In addition to Clerk, she served as Office Manager, HR representative, and handled technology updates.

  • Proclamation: The board issued a proclamation highlighting her dedication, including driving through storms to swear in officials.

The Beecher Village Board on Monday, December 22, 2025, celebrated the career of Village Clerk Janett McCawley, who is retiring after 35 years with the municipality.

Village President Marcy Meyer read a proclamation detailing McCawley’s extensive contributions, which began when she was hired full-time in 1991. The proclamation noted that McCawley had sworn in three village presidents, four police chiefs, and “too many village trustees and police officers to count.”

“She has gone on to take on just about anything that has been asked of her,” Meyer said. “She has been our HR person… She used to rebuild the screens for the website. Basically, she took on anything that we needed done at Village Hall.”

McCawley addressed the board and the audience, reflecting on the changes she has witnessed in the village and some of the unique inquiries she received from residents over the decades, ranging from questions about divorce to complaints about the leaf color of replacement trees.

“It’s been my honor to have personally sworn in every elected official sitting at this table and administered the oath to every police officer hired for this town for over 30 years,” McCawley said. “It’s been an honor to be the person behind the scenes serving the public.”

Her official last day is scheduled for later this week.
