Beecher School District 200U Board Meeting | December 10, 2025

The Beecher School District 200U Board met on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Beecher High School Library. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with Board Vice President Ashley Fluechtling absent. The board handled a range of end-of-year business, including the approval of the annual tax levy, personnel changes, and updates on facility grants.

School Maintenance Grant
Superintendent Jack Gaham informed the board that the district is applying for a $50,000 School Maintenance Project Grant. The funds are earmarked for the elementary school windows project. Gaham stated that the architect is currently filing an amendment to the health life safety plan, and the board will formally approve the application in January.

Personnel Changes
The board approved several employment actions. Resignations were accepted from District Mechanic Ryan Bena and High School Boys Soccer Assistant Coach Jonathan Caporus. The board subsequently approved the hiring of Jerry Gersh Jr. as the new District Mechanic. Additionally, the board voted to reopen the search for both the Head and Assistant High School Volleyball Coach positions.

Job Description Update
Trustees approved an updated job description for the Special Services Coordinator. Superintendent Gaham explained that the update was a legal necessity to explicitly state that the coordinator oversees students in external placements. “By law, you have to have a line that says she oversees the external placement students as well,” Gaham said.

KACC Update
During committee reports, it was noted that the Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC) is currently looking for a new principal due to an upcoming retirement. The board also discussed the recent addition of nursing, diesel, and aviation programs at the center over the last few years.

PTO Updates
The Beecher PTO reported a successful start to their holiday shop. They also announced that their annual Bingo Night is scheduled for March 20. A discussion regarding a window graphic purchase revealed the cost came in at $10,200, slightly over the budgeted $9,000, though the organization has funds to cover the expense.
