Article Summary: Public Works Superintendent Matt Conner informed the board that crews are finishing the final leaf collection of the season before converting trucks for snow operations. Residents who missed the collection were promised a final opportunity in the spring.
Public Works Update Key Points:
-
Leaf Collection: Crews aimed to finish the final pass through town by Tuesday, January 13.
-
Fleet Conversion: Trucks are being converted from leaf collection setups to full snow plow operations.
-
Spring Pickup: A final leaf collection pass is scheduled for the spring to assist residents who could not clean up in time.
The Village of Beecher is transitioning its maintenance fleet from autumn cleanup to winter readiness, according to a report given to the Village Board on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Public Works Superintendent Matt Conner reported that crews have resumed leaf pickup operations and expected to complete a pass through the town by the following day. However, due to the advancing season, the department is now prioritizing snow removal capabilities.
“We’re looking to get our truck transferred over to full snow operation instead of going back and forth numerous times now,” Conner told the board.
Conner acknowledged that winter weather often interrupts the final cleanup efforts for residents. He assured the board and the public that the village would provide one more opportunity to dispose of leaves once the weather warms.
“We probably will make a final pass sometime in the spring just so everybody knows,” Conner said. “I know no one had the opportunity to clean up fully.”
