Village of Beecher Board Meeting | January 12, 2026
The Beecher Village Board met on Monday, January 12, 2026, to manage administrative appointments, receive commission reports, and oversee village finances. In addition to appointing Denise Abbink as the new Village Clerk and receiving updates on Public Works operations, the board approved participation in a regional environmental committee and heard plans for upcoming community events. The board adjourned into executive session at the end of the meeting to discuss personnel matters.
Environmental Justice Committee:
The board voted to designate Village President Marcy Meyer as the representative and Village Administrator Charity Mitchell as the alternate to the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) Environmental Justice Committee. President Meyer noted that while the specific details of the new committee are still developing, participation is required for certain grant opportunities.
Youth Commission Events:
Trustee Jessica Smith announced upcoming events for the Youth Commission. A free showing of the movie “Lilo & Stitch” will be hosted at Faith Church on Martin Luther King Jr. Day at 10:00 a.m. Additionally, registration is now open on the village website for the Daddy Daughter Dance, scheduled for February 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Police Department Statistics:
According to the monthly report submitted to the board, the Beecher Police Department had 730 total calls for service in December 2025. Officers issued 18 citations and 73 warnings during the month. The report also noted 105 traffic stops and 17 suspicious activity complaints.
Commission Meeting Dates:
Several village commissions announced their upcoming meeting schedules. The Fourth of July Commission will meet on Wednesday, January 14, at 6:30 p.m. The Historic Preservation Commission will meet on January 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Depot. The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, January 22, at 7:00 p.m.
