The Beecher School District 200-U Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Board Attendance:
The meeting was attended by Board President Ashley Belt, Vice President Ashley Fluechtling, Secretary Brandy Flores, and Trustees Amanda Hanson, Marie Hansel, Adriana Diachenko, and Trustee Shrader.
Education Foundation Fundraiser:
Wendy Hopstra, Chairman of the Beecher Education Foundation, spoke during public comment to announce the organization’s annual fundraiser. The event is scheduled for February 28 at CD & ME in Frankfort. Hopstra highlighted recent foundation contributions, including software for the ACT truck, baseball equipment, and a math learning program for the elementary school.
Staff Resignation and Hires:
The Board acknowledged the resignation of elementary school teacher Dawn Miller, effective at the end of the 2026 fiscal year. In new hires, the Board approved Jacob Mack as a Junior High School Teacher Aide and Charlotte Farrar as a volunteer High School cheerleading assistant coach.
Community Outreach Success:
High School Principal Mike Meyer reported on the success of the “Frosty Friends” program. He noted that student groups, including “Paw Pride,” helped raise funds and purchase gifts for 95 local children during the holiday season.
Dual Credit Exploration:
Superintendent Gaham reported early-stage conversations with Governors State University regarding dual credit opportunities. The district is exploring whether staff members with master’s degrees in specific subject areas, such as math, could be certified to teach courses that offer students both high school and college credit.
Seniority List Approved:
The Board approved the 2025-2026 Beecher Education Association (BEA) seniority list as submitted.
