Illinois Quick Hits: Pritzker wants year-round E15 fuel
(The Center Square) – Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is renewing his call for the federal government to mandate year-round sales of E15 fuel.
The governor cited a report from the Renewable Fuels Association saying a year-round requirement for the gasoline blend with up to 15% ethanol would increase demand for corn by 2 billion bushels a year.
On Monday, President Donald Trump issued an executive order directing the Environmental Protection Agency to consider issuing year-round fuel waivers for E15.
EX-PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT CHARGED IN GEORGIA
Former Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Superintendent Devon Horton has been charged with cruelty to children and aggravated assault in Georgia.
In an email to The Daily Northwestern, a DeKalb County, Georgia, school district spokesperson said Horton’s arrest “stems from an alleged incident not related to the school district.”
Horton is also facing 17 counts of embezzlement, wire fraud and tax fraud related to activities during his leadership at Evanston/Skokie, where he was superintendent from 2020 to 2023.
PRELIMINARY DATA RANKS O’HARE AS NATION’S BUSIEST AIRPORT
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is the busiest airfield in the United States, according to preliminary data from the Federal Aviation Administration.
In all, 857,392 aircraft landed or took off from O’Hare in 2025. Chicago Midway ranked 38th in the nation for takeoffs and landings.
