Village of Beecher Meeting | January 26, 2026

The Beecher Village Board of Trustees met on Monday, January 26, 2026, to handle significant policy updates and financial business. The primary action of the night was the unanimous approval of a comprehensive update to the village’s construction and fire codes, a project more than a year in the making. The board also took steps to stabilize utility costs for village facilities by authorizing participation in a collective electricity bid process.

In addition to legislative actions, the board received updates on upcoming infrastructure projects and community events. Trustees also approved the payment of bills and reviewed the monthly treasurer’s report before adjourning into an executive session to discuss personnel matters.

Miller Street Watermain Project:
Trustee Erik Gardner, Chair of the Public Works Committee, announced that the bid notice for the Miller Street watermain replacement project would be advertised on January 29, 2026. This step moves the infrastructure improvement project closer to the construction phase.

Concerts in the Park:
Trustee Brian Diachenko reported that the Public Buildings and Properties Committee has made significant progress in planning the summer entertainment schedule. Diachenko stated that the village has booked bands for all but one date for the “Concerts in the Park” series and expects to finalize the lineup by the end of the week.

Mayor Discusses Committee Assignments:
Village President Marcy Meyer informed the board that she plans to review and potentially shuffle trustee committee assignments in May. Meyer advised trustees to consider which committees they might wish to serve on in the future. She also used her report to remind the board that their role is strictly policy-making, rather than managing village employees or day-to-day department operations.

Financial Reports Approved:
The board approved the treasurer’s report showing a total of $5,686,650.08 across all village and commission accounts for the month ending December 31, 2025. Additionally, the board approved a list of bills and payroll totaling $39,623.08.

Personnel Discussion:
Following the regular business session, the board voted to adjourn into an executive session to discuss matters of personnel. No final action was taken on these matters during the open portion of the meeting following the closed session.
