Illinois Quick Hits: Man sentenced for robbing postal worker

(The Center Square) – A federal judge has sentenced a Chicago man to four years and three months in prison for robbing a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood.

Prosecutors say Donte Hughes, 34, was on probation for a firearm-related conviction at the time of the incident in March 2020.

Hughes was arrested in 2024 and pleaded guilty last year.

1099-G FORMS AVAILABLE

The Illinois Department of Employment Security says 1099-G tax forms are now available for claimants who received unemployment insurance benefits in 2025.

The agency says the form is necessary for individuals who received state or UI benefits. IDES said claimants should receive either an email notification or a hard copy of the form by mail.

All claimants may also access their 1099-G tax form by logging into their IDES account or calling Tele-Serve at (312) 338-4337.

The passport to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence features a cardinal, a monarch and other state symbols.

Passports are free and will be available at public libraries, highway visitor centers, staffed passport sites and other locations throughout Illinois while supplies last.
