Village of Beecher Meeting | February 9, 2026

Meeting Summary
The Beecher Village Board convened on Monday, February 9, 2026, to handle a variety of administrative and financial matters. In addition to discussing capital improvements and zoning enforcement, the board formally welcomed two new employees. Mayor Marcy Meyer administered the oath of office to Heidi Demas, who was appointed as Deputy Village Clerk, and Nicholas Nieken, who was sworn in as a new Police Officer.

The board also handled routine financial business, approving the list of bills and payroll. Included in the expenses was a $15,000 emergency repair bill for Superior Pumping. Public Works Superintendent Matt Conner explained that the repair was necessary for the Cardinal Creek lift station after an air release valve malfunctioned, risking a sanitary sewer release.

News Briefs:

Concert in the Park Series Lineup:
Trustee Jessica Smith announced the schedule for the upcoming summer Concert in the Park series. The lineup includes “The Ron Burgundys” on June 13, “Rear View” on July 2, “One of These Nights” on August 22, and “Southtown Soul and Groove” on September 5.

Budget Workshop and Hearing Dates Set:
The board approved motions to set the dates for the upcoming budget process. A budget workshop will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The formal public hearing on the proposed budget is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

Commission Updates:
Trustee Smith reported that the Youth Commission’s recent Daddy Daughter Dance was a success, drawing nearly 250 attendees. The Mother Son Dance is scheduled for March 21. Additionally, the Historic Preservation Commission announced it is collaborating with the Crete Township Historical Association to organize area history.

Upcoming Meeting Dates:
The next Youth Commission meeting is February 17 at 7:30 p.m. The Historic Preservation Commission meets next on February 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Depot. The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m.
