Village of Beecher Board of Trustees Meeting | March 9, 2026

The Village of Beecher Board of Trustees met on Monday, March 9, 2026, to handle a variety of municipal operations, ranging from public safety advocacy to routine maintenance approvals. Beyond heavy discussions regarding the hazardous Route 1 intersection and state legislative overreach, the board managed local park improvements, issued a request for proposals for Village Hall upgrades, and laid out the public works schedule for spring brush and leaf collection.

Resident Thanks Board for Noise Resolution:
During the public recognition portion of the meeting, resident George Schuitema thanked the board and the code enforcement department for resolving an ongoing noise issue involving semi-trailers at the local Berkot’s Super Foods. Schuitema stated that the trailers are no longer running all night, returning peace to the neighboring residential area. Village President Marcy Meyer noted that Berkot’s management stepped up to resolve the issue, willingly changing their truck schedules to accommodate the neighborhood. Trustee Roger Stacey also commended Code Enforcement Officer David Harrison for his diligent work handling messy dog complaints in the Hunter’s Chase subdivision.

Fireman’s Park Stage Modifications:
Village President Marcy Meyer announced that while larger improvements to the stage at Fireman’s Park have been postponed until later in the year to coordinate with the Fourth of July Commission’s budget, one immediate change will be made. The village plans to remove the center post of the stage this year. The removal will be done in-house by public works, keeping the cost under $1,000. Safebuilt will be brought in to inspect the modification and ensure no structural safety issues are created by the removal.

Village Hall Drive-Thru Upgrades RFP Issued:
The board announced that a Request for Proposals (RFP) was officially issued on March 2, 2026, for cosmetic and structural upgrades to the Village Hall’s drive-thru area. The project will include replacing the soffit, fascia, and ceiling of the drive-thru, as well as installing new L.E.D. can lighting. Proposals from contractors are due to the village by 10:00 a.m. on April 8, 2026.

Public Works Spring Cleanup Schedule Set:
Public Works Superintendent Matt Conner announced the schedule for the village’s spring cleanup programs. Weekly brush collection is set to begin on Tuesday, April 7, and will run through September. Additionally, the village will offer a final leaf collection taking place the week of April 20. Residents are required to have their leaves moved to the street on or before Sunday, April 19. Conner noted this final sweep is meant to give residents an opportunity to clean up yards that were missed during the fall collection.

Financial Approvals:
The board unanimously approved the list of bills and payroll for the period. According to the meeting agenda and official minutes, the total approved amount was $108,596.04. A budget workshop was also scheduled for Monday, March 16, at 4:00 p.m. at Village Hall to discuss the upcoming fiscal year’s finances.
