Student Academic and Fine Arts Recognitions
The board began the meeting by recognizing top-growth students from the winter STAR testing at Beecher Elementary. High School Principal Mike Meyer also recognized the high school and junior high students who auditioned for and were selected to participate in the prestigious Illinois Music Education Association’s district festivals. Zosa Maxum, Jocelyn Garcia, Mia Nikolich, and another student successfully secured spots out of over 1,000 auditioning students across Cook, Will, and DuPage counties.

PTO and Booster Club Donations
Board members provided updates on local parent and athletic organizations. The Booster Club announced it will soon open applications for two $500 scholarships for graduating seniors. The club recently donated funds to help repair the district’s baseball batting cages and soccer dugouts. Meanwhile, the PTO reported a current account balance of $37,791.66 and is finalizing outdoor signage updates for the schools. The PTO recently locked in a price of $1,700 for exterior pin letters and $7,175 for interior window stickers from All Right Signs. The Beecher Education Foundation was also praised for raising $18,000 at their recent dinner event.

Elementary Classroom Desk Replacements Proposed
Superintendent Dr. Jack Gaham announced that the district is preparing to order new desks for Beecher Elementary School. Following a recent effort to clean out and discard broken and aging wooden desks, the district is planning to purchase a batch of 90 new desks. The new units will feature adjustable heights and laminate tops. The purchase is estimated to cost approximately $10,000 and is expected to be formally voted on during the April 15 board meeting.

IHSA Membership Renewal
With no discussion, the board voted unanimously to approve Beecher High School’s membership in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) for the 2026-2027 school year. The routine annual approval ensures the district’s athletic teams remain eligible for state-sanctioned post-season play and regional tournaments.
