Senior Taylor Norkus was completely untouchable in the circle and unstoppable at the plate, guiding the Beecher varsity softball team to a dominant 16-0 conference victory over visiting Illinois Lutheran on Tuesday afternoon. Norkus spun a four-inning no-hitter and drove in three runs to fuel the run-rule win.

Norkus dominated the Illinois Lutheran (25-26) lineup from the first pitch to the last. She struck out 11 batters over four flawless innings, surrendering just a single walk to lose the perfect game. Her overpowering performance ensured the visitors never managed to build any momentum or threaten the Beecher lead.

While Norkus shut down the opposition, the Beecher offense went to work. The hosts erupted for four runs in the bottom of the first inning to set the tone, then blew the game wide open with a massive 10-run second inning. Beecher tallied 16 hits as a team, batting a blistering .615 on the day and completely overwhelming the Illinois Lutheran defense.

Sophomore Maddy Grooms provided the biggest highlight of the afternoon, launching a home run and finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Norkus helped her own cause with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, adding a double, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Sophomore Carmela Irwin also contributed a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Freshman Karsyn Kasput and senior Elena Kvasnicka each recorded multi-hit games to keep the carousel moving for Beecher, while sophomore Allie Johnson came off the bench to deliver a two-RBI single.

Illinois Lutheran struggled to contain the Beecher bats and committed three errors in the field. The game was called after the top of the fourth inning due to the 15-run mercy rule, capping a flawless conference performance by the hosts.
