The Beecher varsity baseball team utilized a consistent offensive attack and capitalized on extra-base hits to secure a 6-4 non-conference road victory over Reed-Custer on Wednesday afternoon.

Beecher (25-26) broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning, erupting for four runs to take a commanding lead. Santino Imhof provided the biggest swing of the inning, and the game, lacing a triple and eventually scoring to spark the visitors’ offense. Imhof finished the day 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Noah Hanson also delivered a crucial double in the frame, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Reed-Custer (25-26) managed an early unearned run in the bottom of the first but struggled to generate consistent offense against Beecher starter Easton Lane. Trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the hosts mounted a rally. Capitalizing on a pair of walks, a Beecher error, and timely hitting, Reed-Custer pushed three runs across the plate to cut the deficit to 6-4. Dhane Debelak paced the hosts with a 2-for-4 performance and an RBI, while C. Mounts finished a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

However, Beecher’s pitching stabilized to close out the contest. Lane pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four runs (only one earned) on four hits while striking out eight. Nicholas Fox entered in relief and shut the door completely, tossing 2.1 scoreless, one-hit innings with three strikeouts to earn the save and preserve the 6-4 victory.

Offensively, Fox also led Beecher at the plate, going 3-for-4. Tyler Doran, Gavin Van Ness, Ryan Murphy, Chase Maher, and Easton Lane all collected hits as Beecher racked up 13 hits on the day.

Cole Yeates took the loss on the mound for Reed-Custer, allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits over four innings of work.
