The Beecher varsity softball team executed a flawless performance on Tuesday, highlighted by a combined five-inning perfect game from pitchers Allie Johnson and Carmela Irwin en route to a 14-0 home conference victory over Grant Park.

The pitching duo retired all 15 batters they faced, not allowing a single hit, walk, or baserunner while striking out 11. Johnson set the tone as the starter, tossing four pristine innings and racking up eight strikeouts on just 44 pitches to earn the win. Irwin then entered in the fifth inning and slammed the door, striking out the side on 13 pitches to complete the perfect game and trigger the run rule.

While the defense and pitching were immaculate, Beecher’s offense was equally overwhelming. The hosts battered Grant Park pitching for 20 total hits in just five innings, scoring in every single frame to build an insurmountable lead.

Beecher set the pace early with two runs in both the first and second innings. The offense then erupted in the third, plating five runs to push the lead to 9-0, before following up with a four-run fourth inning. The game concluded in the bottom of the fifth when Beecher pushed across their 14th run to end the contest.

The offensive output was a true top-to-bottom team effort, with four different players recording three-hit performances. Senior M. Johnson had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Senior Elena Kvasnicka, senior Mia Chavez, and sophomore Maddy Grooms each went 3-for-4, with Chavez crossing the plate three times.

Sophomore Emma Henderson was the primary run producer for Beecher, driving in three runs on a 2-for-3 effort. Sophomore Grace Wuest also contributed heavily, picking up two hits and scoring twice.

Grant Park struggled defensively, committing four errors that extended innings and led to nine unearned runs crossing the plate. Starting pitcher Claire Sluis took the loss for the visitors, yielding 10 hits and nine runs—though only five were earned—over two and a third innings.
