Illinois Quick Hits: Congressman’s aide indicted on fraud allegations

(The Center Square) – U.S. Rep. Danny Davis’ deputy director has been indicted on federal fraud charges.

Prosecutors say Gerard C. Moorer, 42, filed fraudulent applications for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and received $31,887 in benefits to which he was not entitled while he was employed by Davis, D-Chicago.

Moorer ran for the Illinois House in 2020 but lost in the Democratic Party primary.

MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGED CROSSBOW INCIDENT

A man is facing charges after he allegedly pointed a crossbow at police officers in Decatur on April 22.

Prosecutors say Michael Boliard, 54, of Decatur was injured when officers discharged their firearms in response.

Boliard was arrested on Tuesday after he was released from the hospital.

ISP MEMORIAL PARK HOSTS CEREMONY TO HONOR FALLEN OFFICERS

Illinois State Police and the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation held their first annual Memorial Park ceremony in Springfield on Wednesday, in honor and remembrance of all the ISP officers who died in the line of duty.

The ISP Memorial Park was completed in 2018.

SERVICES TO BE HELD FOR CHICAGO OFFICER BARTHOLOMEW

Services will be today and Friday for Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew, who was allegedly killed by a seven-time convicted felon on April 25.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church on Chicago’s North Side, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, also at St. Andrew’s.
