Beecher Community Unit School District 200-U Meeting | May 13, 2026

Article Summary: The Beecher Community Unit School District 200-U Board of Education on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, unanimously approved a retirement contract for Beecher High School Principal Mike Meyer, signaling a leadership transition at the high school in the coming years.

Principal Retirement Key Points:

  • Board voted 7-0 to approve a retirement contract for High School Principal Mike Meyer.
  • Meyer continues in his role through the duration of the retirement agreement, presenting a major cell phone policy amendment at the same meeting.
  • Approval came alongside three new teaching hires and one bus driver resignation.
  • Specific contract terms were not read into the record at Wednesday’s meeting.

BEECHER — The Beecher Community Unit School District 200-U Board of Education on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, unanimously approved a retirement contract for Beecher High School Principal Mike Meyer, formally beginning the timeline toward a leadership change at the high school.

The motion to approve the retirement contract “for Mike Meyer as high school principal as submitted” passed unanimously on a roll call vote during the meeting’s new business section. The board did not discuss the contract’s specific terms in open session, and details such as the effective date and any retirement incentives were not read aloud.

Meyer remained an active participant in the meeting. Earlier in the evening, he used his principal’s staff report to walk the board through a substantial amendment to the district’s pending cell phone policy, ultimately incorporated into the version the board approved later that night. Meyer also reported on a successful prom held at the Rialto, AP testing administered at Faith Church and Peace Church, and ongoing scheduling work for the 2026-2027 school year.

The board’s action did not include a discussion of the principal search process or a timeline for naming Meyer’s successor.

New Teachers Hired

In the same meeting, the board approved three teaching hires recommended after interviews led by elementary administrator Mrs. Toppen and the rest of the interview committee. The hires were:

  • Allison Goedke as Beecher Elementary School kindergarten teacher
  • Margaret Stein as Beecher Elementary School first grade teacher
  • Joshua Groesser as a part-time (0.5) special education teacher

The board moved up the personnel votes earlier in the meeting at the request of the chair so that family members in the audience would not have to wait through executive session. All three hires passed unanimously.

Bus Driver Resignation

The board also acknowledged the resignation of Thomas Hynes as a full-time bus driver, effective May 1, 2026. The agenda packet did not list a specific reason for the resignation, and the matter was not discussed in open session.

In a separate personnel-related update, Meyer thanked Ms. Jill Nelson for agreeing to fill the paraprofessional position for summer school and driver’s education.
