  • The board authorized buying a 2027 Ford F350 utility box truck, not to exceed $69,522, from Terry’s Ford.
  • Trustees waived the formal bid process, with staff citing the dealer’s pricing, vehicle availability, warranty support and familiarity with municipal fleet needs.

BEECHER — The Beecher Village Board on Monday, June 8, 2026, voted to set aside its formal bidding process and authorize the purchase of a new public works truck for up to $69,522, with officials pointing to the dealer’s pricing, availability and service support as reasons to buy directly.

Trustee Erik Gardner, chair of the Public Works Committee, presented the motion to waive the formal bid process and authorize the purchase of a 2027 Ford F350 utility box truck from Terry’s Ford in an amount not to exceed $69,522. Staff determined that buying through the dealer was in the village’s best interest “due to vehicle availability, pricing, warranty support, familiarity with municipal fleet requirements, and the ability to meet the village’s delivery schedule and service needs,” according to the motion as read.

Funding for the truck is budgeted within the village’s FY27 PW-CESFA Fund. Illinois municipalities can bypass competitive bidding for certain purchases by formal board action, as the board did here.

The vehicle purchase was the only action item in a Public Works Committee report that also included the monthly public works, water operations and wastewater treatment plant reports. The board approved the motion in a unanimous roll call.
