BEECHER — The Beecher Village Board on Monday, June 8, 2026, recognized three longtime volunteers with the village’s Emergency Management Agency — Dale, Sherry and Karalyne Murray — for their years of service as the family prepares to relocate to Tennessee.
Village President Marcy Meyer introduced the recognition during the president’s report and turned the floor over to Bob Heim of the Emergency Management Agency. Heim said Dale Murray started in 2019, accumulating about seven years of service, rising to deputy director and serving as the agency’s IT specialist. Sherry Murray logged more than 10 years, having joined shortly after the agency was established, while Karalyne Murray contributed about eight years, Heim said.
Heim said all three stepped up when the village had to decommission squad cars and turn them over to the EMA, helping strip police equipment from the vehicles to save money, and assisting with the installation of radar units in squad cars. “They did a lot of stuff above and beyond, and I want to recognize them,” he said.
Officials also praised the volunteers’ time directing traffic at village events. The volunteers “come out in all weather for hours on end,” one official said during the recognition, standing in heat and cold “until they’re no longer needed.”
